  • 24 hour telephone help
  • Lending library with books on breastfeeding and parenting

Breastfeeding is natural, but that does not mean women can do it by instinct alone. Like childbirth, breastfeeding is easier with help. Problems of lactation can usually be avoided with preparation and information.

Knowing other women who have breastfed their babies can be helpful and reassuring. Having accurate, up-to-date information is also important. Attending La Leche League meetings can help you learn about breastfeeding from other nursing mothers. At these monthly meetings, mothers share not only their questions and concerns, but also the joys and benefits of breastfeeding. Being in touch with La Leche League can give you the network of support you need.

La Leche League International was founded in 1956 to provide information and support to breastfeeding mothers. All woman interested in breastfeeding are invited to attend, and nursing babies are always welcome. Discussion groups are led by Leaders who have successfully breastfed their babies. We encourage you to join us during your pregnancy to receive valuable information to help you get started, as well as after your baby is born for continued support. The discussion topics are taken from LLL’s manual, THE WOMANLY ART OF BREASTFEEDING.
